McConnell races D3 Racing KTM to victory at Elgin

Euan McConnell has raced his D3 Racing KTM to victory at the fourth round of the 2010 Scottish Hare and Hound Championship at Woodside at Elgin on the weekend. McConnell lapped upto second position and finished over four minutes ahead of race runner-up Derek Little.

McConnell secured the holeshot aboard his KTM 250 EXC and then led the three-hour race from start to finish. Both McConnell and Little were the only riders to achieve 19 laps over the three hours.

“Believe it or not, but this is my first ever three-hour race in Scotland,” explained McConnell. “I was more than a little anxious before the race, as I thought young gun Fraser Norrie and ex-Scottish Motocross Champ Neil Flockhart would be tough competition on this motocross-style circuit.

“As it turned out, it was old dog Derek [Little] who kept me honest, particularly during the later stages of the race. I was elated and relieved to win in front of such strong opposition.

“I really enjoyed riding my KTM. My bike performed flawlessly from achieving the holeshot, tearing around the course and right to the chequered flag. It kept me smiling from ear to ear.

“It's been a great weekend -  a combination of good event organisation, great track and pit crew, and even the rain held off for most of the race. I look forward to racing at another one of these events soon.”

D3 Racing's Murray Thomson and Oliver Hart were also competing at Scottish Hare and Hound event.
